Waiting for paint to dry

Literally.

Just ended my ad-hoc art class at Edgefield Primary (which is thankfully just opposite my estate), but need to collect the artworks.

Some of the kids seem to think that poster colour is free... Dollop so much onto their paper that it won't even dry by tonight. Maybe they're trying to emulate the oil paintings they see.

So thick!

But I have to lessen the damage to other artworks by drying these as much as possible. So eating my bread for lunch while sitting w the paintings under the classroom fan now.

Lelong lelong!

Luckily I just installed the iPhone Blogger app last night hee hee.

For this series of lessons the kids were supposed to create an artwork to emulate Pop Art artist Roy Lichtenstein's 'Sinking Sun' landscape painting below:

This is my version of how their finished artwork should look like. They have to capture the main gist of Lichtenstein's work i.e. the use of primary colours (red, blue and yellow), dots and lines in addition to flat colours, as well as the radiating sun and hilly landscape.

Miss Teo realised it's not easy to paint neatly with a fat finger :p
So should not expect too tidy work from the P1s.

An art teacher's life is bitter! After class I still have to waste UNPAID precious time guarding the artworks.

Somemore had to wash the sink, wipe the tables and mop the floor haha... All voluntarily lah. Else the kids will all get paint on their stuff tomorrow morning.

Actually enjoyed working with the kids, especially seeing those who are having fun exploring their creativity and skills. But, the salary isn't worth it, especially with this particular company who is disorganised and not as well-prepared, so we freelancing teachers have to do much more work for them.

 

 

 

Also doesn't make sense to make them rush through their project and still grade them on the criteria below, Creativity + Skills. Sigh... I don't feel very professional teaching this course.

















Ok, 10 more mins and I'll pack up and go.

2 days later and the paintings are still wet. Don't think they're ever going to dry. Isn't it the stupidest thing when an art teacher has to resort to this for her students???
