We finally took the plunge!
After bearing with the terrible construction noise from the EC site outside our windows, Hubby has given the go-ahead to replace our windows with double-glazed ones.
Mummy has tried to DIY soundproofing, but in Singapore the materials are not easily found and cost a lot too. So my styrofoam and cardboard inventions don't really help much in muting the noise.
Goggled about soundproofing and found out about double-glazed windows. They have a vacuum in between two glass panes, so the sound is stopped. Surfed and seemed to only find one local shop that does it; the uncle came by on Saturday to measure our windows for a quotation.
Heartpain... but Boyboy's sleep is more important, as it will affect his growth, and hence his entire future life.
Will update when they come to replace the windows in about a month's time. Yes, they have to remove the entire window frame from the wall and replace with theirs in order for the soundproofing can work. Don't worry, it's HDB-approved and apparently can be included in the flat valuation for resale.
Really hope it works!!!
